Many worry that their genitalia are not normal, but what is normal for one cannot be normal for the other. What matters is that – if it is normal for you!

Types of Vagina

Every Jane, Jill and Jennifer think that the entire area between the legs is the vagina. Vagina is just the tube that is inside your genital opening. The tube is narrow at the end and is broad towards the cervix forming a ‘V’ shape.

Types of Vagina

The vulva – which guards your vagina and urinary openings will be of different shape, colour, size and even smells different. When people talk about vaginal shape, they refer to the vulva. There are no typical shapes of vulva. The outer and inner labia that looks like lips protect your vagina.
The length and width of the outer and inner labia also vary. The most common types of labia are:
Asymmetrical Inner lips

The labia would be in brown colour or a shade darker than your skin of the body. This is because of increased melanocytes in the labia. (Melanocytes are pigment producing cells which produce melanin, which darkens its appearance.) The colour is darker because of the friction that happens while giving birth or rubbing the skin repeatedly increases the darkness of skin. People who have given birth or have frequent sex might have the darker skin. (But it is healthy 😊)

Types of Vagina

The inner labia and your clitoris will become darker when aroused. It is because of the increased blood flow in the clitoris. When aroused, your clitoris will be in light pink or purplish. One you have climaxed or the arousal feeling subsides, it will return to your usual colour.
Whereas the colour of the vagina is constant. It is either in pink or brown colour. There is a perception that a girl’s nipples and her vagina will be of same colour. But that is not true. The colour of the nipples also change when aroused. The colour of the vagina depends on the blood flow. Mostly, only light skinned and pale skinned will have pink labias. (No intention of racism)

Types of Vagina

The colour of vagina also depends on pregnancy and the weather. When in a cold climate the colour tends to change a little pale than your regular colour. The colour or size and shape does not matter as long as vagina is healthy.
