His tweet read, “For 13 years we pretended to be cousins so we could rent a home together. We were told ‘keep curtains drawn so neighbors don’t know ‘what’ you are’. We recently bought our own home. Now we voluntarily tell neighbors we are partners. It’s time LGBTQ families are normalised too.”

Asrani spoke about how they had to pretend to be ‘normal’ boys for 13 years so they could live together. With owning their own place, the couple will now be able to talk about their true relationship. Siddhant also tweeted stating that he and Apurva Asrani have always followed their heart. His tweet read, “Truly overwhelmed by and grateful for all this love coming our way. @Apurvasrani and I have only ever followed our hearts and taken things head-on without giving much thought to naysayers.”

In an interview Asrani said that it was not easy to find a place for him and Sidhant to live in Mumbai as the house owner always asked if their parents were going to visit or live with them and had conditions that pets were not allowed. Asrani said that the couple moved to Goa and were living happily with their cat. He said that when his career flourished, he had to move back to Mumbai but was unable to find a house to live together with Sidhant.

Asrani said, “We decided it was time buy our first home. We had moved past pretending to be cousins, or living as friends. We knew it was time to live as partners. Soon, we found a pretty apartment, overlooking lush green fields in Goa.” He said that they both were happy to settle down in Goa.
